Introduction



120° pneumatic actuator is a special double rack and pinion type pneumatic actuator with customized cylinder and piston, so that the actuator rotation stroke can reach 120° .



Working principle


Rack and Pinion Pneumatic Actuator comes available in types of double acting and single acting.


(1) Double Acting Pneumatic Actuator


When the pressure of the air source enters the middle chamber between the two pistons of the cylinder from the air port “2”, the two pistons are separated and moved to the two ends of the cylinder, and the air in the air chambers at both ends is discharged through the air port’’4’’. Then the racks of the two pistons simultaneously drive the output shaft to rotate counterclockwise.


Conversely, when the pressure of the air source enters the air chambers at both ends of the cylinder from the air port ‘’4’’, the two pistons are moved toward the middle of the cylinder. The air in the intermediate air chamber is discharged through the air port ‘’2’’. Then the two piston racks simultaneously drive the output shaft to rotate clockwise.


If the piston is installed in the opposite direction, the output shaft becomes reverse rotation.


(2) Single acting Pneumatic Actuator


When the pressure of the air source enters the middle chamber between the two pistons of the cylinder from the air port ‘’2’’, the two pistons are separated and moved toward the ends of the cylinder, forcing the springs at both ends to compress. The air in the air chambers at both ends is discharged through the air port ‘’4’’. The two piston racks synchronously drive the output shaft to rotate counterclockwise.


After the air source pressure is reversed by the solenoid valve, the two pistons of the cylinder move in the middle direction under the elastic force of the spring. The air in the middle chamber is discharged from the air port ‘’2’’, and the two piston racks simultaneously drive the output shaft to rotate clockwise.


If the piston is installed in the opposite direction, the output shaft will turn in reverse when the spring returns.

7. Composite material bearings and guide rings on the rack and piston, low friction coefficient, long life, can perform operations precisely, and prevent the output shaft from breaking.

9. The high-precision tooth shape on the gear and the rack makes the meshing gap between the gear and the rack smaller and more accurate, and the output power is increased.
